This original graphite drawing was drawn in the San Francisco de Young Museum from a beautiful and mysterious hand carved boat by Abraham Anghik Ruben. The original contains calcite, caribou antler, musk ox horn and cotton fiber and shows the sea goddess, Sedna, guiding her rowers over the ocean.

I am both a painter and a printmaker -- these two disciplines provide balance to my creative process and I freely move between the representational subjects in my paintings and the abstract imagery in my printmaking. My monoprints combine diverse inspirational sources (tapestries, Japanese wood-blocks and ceramics) with vibrant colors, patterns and textures to create compelling semi-abstractions. Painting "en Plein Air" has given me an appreciation for the hidden beauty in the city and surrounding environs where I live. Strong influences in my work are Classicism, Impressionism, Aestheticism, Fauvism, the Arts and Crafts Movement and the Nabis of the 19th Century.
